Erika's reading selection(s)

Finished due to no television:
The entire Sookie Stackhouse series (all 10 books)
by Charlaine Harris
The series True Blood is based off this series.  Easy reading, mind candy... helped me get through not watching True Blood on tv.

Freedom
by Jonathan Franzen
Fantastic and depressing all at the same time. I highly recommend it.

Girl with a Pearl Earring
by Nancy Chevalier
Okay. No surprises. For a look into art history combined with fiction try The Forgery of Venus by Michael Gruber.

Under the Banner of Heaven
by Jon Krakauer
Want to know about Mormon Fundamentalism and the tenets of Mormonism? Here it is in all of its shocking glory.

Water for Elephants
by Sara Gruen
I loved this book. Fantastic descriptive work on life in a circus. This was made all the more poignant to me after going to a one ring big top circus after finishing the book that very day. The book will soon be made into a movie starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson. I love reading books before seeing the movies.

Tracking the Tempest
by Nicole Peeler
Quick read. If you liked the Twilight series, but wanted more sex and humor. Check this series out.

The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
by Steig Larsson
As you can see, I read them all in a row. Couldn't help it. I got Steve turned on to them, too. Who doesn't love a good series?

The Girl who Played with Fire
by Steig Larsson
Fantastic!

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
by Steig Larsson
Great novel. Slow to begin, but becomes a page turner. Can't wait for the movie and the sequel!

Little Bee
by Chris Cleave
Promised a surprise ending. Yep. There's a surprise. But, the book as a whole wasn't amazing.

The Help
by Kathryn Stockett
Recommended by my friend, Beth. Incredible book! I think I read all 400 plus pages in 36 hours. It tells the story of the south during the civil rights era through the eyes of white women and their "help." Just heard that it's going to be a movie, too!

Tempest Rising
by Nicole Peeler
The author is Steve's good friend from high school. The book was a fast read along the same lines as Twilight, but a bit more kitschy and adult. Nicole is set with a 6 book deal and a movie, so I can't wait to read the next installment!

Suite Francaise
by Irene Nemirovsky
Took forever to get through. Not my favorite book, but the author's story was so incredible that I had to read the book. I even renewed it from the library so I could finish!

The Red Tent
by Anita Diamant
Read in 3 days. Incredible story from a woman's perspective that will make you want to go and read the Old Testament to compare facts.

The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn
by Robin Maxwell

Good book - easy read. A bit more insight than I already had on Henry VIII and his first 3 wives.

My Name is Will
by Jess Winfield

Awesome book for Shakespeare fans.
